Professional Scrum Product Owner

2 DaysDates TBC

About This Course

The Product Owner role is frequently misunderstood. It is not a business analyst who writes user stories, nor a project manager in disguise. Done well, it is a strategic and demanding accountability that shapes what a team builds and why - and that is directly tied to the delivery of value.

This course is structured around the Scrum Guide 2020 and covers the full scope of Product Ownership: managing and ordering the Product Backlog, defining and communicating product vision and goals, engaging stakeholders, and working effectively with the Scrum Team to maximise value.

This is a preparation course for the Professional Scrum Product Owner I (PSPO I) assessment from Scrum.org. Passing the assessment is not required, but candidates who complete this course are well placed to attempt it.

What You'll Learn

Explain the Product Owner accountability within Scrum and describe how it differs from traditional product management or business analysis roles
Define and communicate a compelling product vision and product goal that gives the Scrum Team clear direction
Create and order a Product Backlog that reflects value, risk, and strategic intent, and explain the principles behind prioritisation decisions
Facilitate effective Product Backlog refinement and describe the characteristics of well-understood backlog items
Engage stakeholders and customers as a source of insight and feedback, and manage competing demands with transparency
Describe the relationship between the Product Owner, Scrum Master, and Developers, and explain how the Product Owner enables rather than directs
Explain how value is defined, measured, and used to inform product decisions
